“Helping me keep my new year's resolution of a massage every 4 weeks.”

J.S

My goal as a massage therapist is to help call awareness to areas of the body that could soften and expand, creating more freedom in movement and expression. I believe that when we can experience more open-ness and awareness in our bodies, we make room to be more present with others and participate in our lives.

The first massage I ever gave was when I was just a kiddo, when my mom asked me to walk on her back. Years later, when I decided to attend massage therapy school, I found that it illuminated my potential in ways that my previous traditional education was blind to. Through connection and body awareness, massage showed me a new pathway to access my true self. I learned that massage is not only a form of medicine, but an art form and a medium for self-expression.

I graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Whatcom Community College. There I established a foundation in Swedish massage, and became well versed in various treatment methods to address acute and chronic conditions. Additionally, I hold a background in Medical Assisting and emergency medicine, both of which lead me to massage through study in anatomy and development of clinical skills and reasoning, both of which inform my practice. In my past I was an athlete and continue to involve myself in various movement practices and recreational activities like yoga, dancing, biking, swimming, and surfing.

I aim to meet clients where they are and curate a session to fit their specific needs and desires. I acknowledge that each person is the expert of their own body and experience. My hope is to create a collaborative atmosphere – I encourage and value communication, participation and expression in my sessions.

Thank you for being here, and I look forward to meeting with you!
