Kids have stress too! There are a number of reasons for minors to receive massage. Creating positive, safe experiences to feel their body and develop self-care tools can help with stress, anxiety, depression, tension from sports or other activities, and more.  

Be aware that the parent or guardian needs to sign all forms. If the minor is under 13 years old, a parent or guardian needs to be present throughout the massage. Ages 13 and up can choose to have a parent or guardian present during the session.

Pregnancy massage for you and your baby can decrease aches and pains due to changes in your body, while increasing a sense of well-being and connection throughout your pregnancy.

Some research-based benefits of massage during pregnancy include: decreased stress levels for mother and baby, facilitation of effective hormonal, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, and other physiological processes, decreases in stress and pain in weight bearing joints and muscles that are strained during the postural changes caused by pregnancy, can contribute to shorter, less painful labor and reduces complications, medications, and interventions, improves infant well-being prenatally, during birth, and in postpartum stage.

This trauma-informed modality is based in osteopathic medicine. Craniosacral therapy focuses on skeletal alignment and cerebrospinal fluid health in order to facilitate ease in the system and assist in dispelling functional strain patterns. This work employs light contact and minimal pressure; it is a gentle conversation with the nervous system to explore areas of holding in the body and encourage subtle movement. Khya may apply gentle fascial unwinding and/or injury treatment techniques alongside more subtle cranial holds depending on client need and preference. Cranial work is indicated for headaches and jaw tension, chronic pain, anxiety and sleep disturbance, and acute injury as well as for overall maintenance, grounding, and wellbeing.

The Trager method is a somatic practice that uses concepts of neuroplasticity and nervous system re-education. Gentle holds, lulling rocking, and curious exploration through movement and touch give the nervous system an opportunity to re-map adaptive patterns of tension, leading to more ease in the body and mind. This can signal to the brain and body that old, guarding patterns can safely dissolve, bringing a new awareness, connection and ease.

A Trager session can combine some movement work off the massage table, but most of the session will be on the table, clothed, and no oils or lotions are used. Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

Intraoral treatment massage includes working the exterior muscles and structures of the head, face, and neck, along with working inside the mouth to more directly address the muscles of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). WA massage therapists must have additional training and endorsements on their license in order to work inside the mouth. Veritas has 5 massage therapists that can do intraoral work. Intraoral treatment can help TMJ disorders, chronic headaches and tension, teeth grinding, and other injuries and strains of the jaw and neck.

Hot Stone massage is a gentle massage modality that uses the deep heat of warmed stones to effect changes in the soft tissue and the nervous system. Your massage therapist is training in the safe application of these treatment tools to provide an effective and calming massage. Studies show that a hot stone massage may be a helpful way to reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and ease pain and muscle tension.
