Frequently Asked Questions

Never had a massage before? New to Veritas and wondering about how we work? You’ve come to the right place. Here are some answers to commonly asked questions. If you have a question we didn’t address here, please contact us! We want you to have all the information you need to be comfortable working with us.

  • Traci, the owner of Veritas, began her practice as a licensed massage therapist in 2004. In 2010, after building her solo practice, she created Veritas Massage Studio and began developing a community of like minded, highly skilled licensed massage therapists to create more opportunities for people to find support on their healing journeys.

Today Veritas has grown into a trusted, ethical, and highly respected therapeutic massage business. We pride ourselves on continuing to learn, grow, and deepen our knowledge and skills, with 11 massage therapists offering a safe, inclusive space for all to come and be cared for with kindness and compassion.

  • In Washington State, Licensed Massage Therapists are Healthcare Practitioners. We are licensed by the Department of Health and must follow very specific RCWs and WACs to practice legally, ethically, and professionally. If you ever wonder why we gather specific information or practice in a specific manner, it is because we are required to by law.

    • We are not preferred providers with any medical insurance plans; therefore, we do not do direct billing (except for Community Co-op employees, contact us with questions).

    • On a case by case basis, we can work with MVA/PIP claims and bill single party auto insurance. MVA/PIP clients must contact Veritas to make an appointment.

    • We require payment at time of service, via cash, check, credit card or HSA/FSA accounts.

    • We can give you a summary invoice (Superbill) that will have the information you need to submit for reimbursement to your insurance plan. You will most likely need a diagnosis code (ICD-10) from your PCP, we can NOT provide a diagnosis. All insurance plans vary in coverage and requirements for reimbursement, so check with your plan first. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions!

    • We do offer package discounts of 10% off 4 or more pre-purchased sessions, for individual use only. Ask at the front desk about this option.

  • Tipping is never expected or required. However it is common to tip for massage services, but we understand that not everyone feels able to add this additional cost. We would much rather you make massage a regular part of your healthcare than stress about tipping! If you do tip, most common amounts are anywhere from 10-20% of the service.

    • Entering the studio: If you are new to massage or new to Veritas, we want you to know you will be treated with compassion and respect. When you enter our space our goal is for you to immediately feel the calm and peaceful. Once greeted by our amazing staff, you will be asked to remove your shoes (if willing and able) while you move through the studio space.

    • Your massage therapist will review the information you’ve provided on your intake forms, and be ready to chat with you about your needs for that session in the privacy of our treatment rooms.

    • Getting on the massage table: Massage therapists are trained in safe and secure draping and undraping practices. Clients will be given privacy to undress and get on the massage table. Most clients will choose to be fully undressed, knowing that they will be covered, except when areas are being treated. A few may choose to leave underwear on for a variety of reasons. We also respect that there may be other reasons that someone would not want to get fully undressed. If you choose to leave your clothes fully on, please let your therapist know when you fill out the Reason for Your Visit form linked to your reminder emails/texts. Coming to your appointment in shorts and a tank top can help us have more direct access to areas that may need addressed based on your needs, but we can work directly through clothing also. If you need to talk more to your therapist about your needs prior to your appointment, please let us know and they will contact you.

    • Communication: Clients can have different preferences for techniques, pressure, temperature, emollient, music, etc. We welcome and encourage you to let your massage therapist know what you would like at any time during your session. Our hope is that you have an experience that creates ease in your body and gives you new awarenesses, leading to more curiosity in how you move and care for yourself between massage appointments.
