Meet Our Team
We specialize in an individualized approach and our goal is to meet you where you are and provide a highly effective session.
Traci Soriano LMT & Owner
I have been in practice since 2004. I specialize in a holistic and therapeutic approach to massage, which includes spending time discovering what each individual client needs. I work from a deep understanding of the body, combined with an intuitive sense and touch.
I am trained in prenatal and postpartum massage and both of our massage rooms have pregnancy tables available. I have had a variety of advance training in different modalities for injury and treatment, some of which include myo-fascial therapies, deep tissue, neuro-muscular techniques, and cupping therapies. All massage is therapeutic and I will meet you where you are that day, whether you need deep treatment, focus on an injury, or relaxation, you will receive the utmost care.
I am faculty at Whatcom Community College in the Massage Practitioner program. I teach Massage Therapy, Kinesiology, and Prenatal and Perinatal massage therapy. I also have studied, trained, and worked in midwifery care and doula services for over 15 years and hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Continuing education classes are an ongoing component of developing my skills and deepening my knowledge.
My practice is based on the belief that each individual can achieve healing, wellness, and peace. My goal is to create a space for you to discover what your body needs to find wholeness and work together towards a state of optimum health.
Khya Rice LMT
What is our experience of ourselves? Of our bodies? How do we express our life's story in motion and are there areas where we could experience more ease in movement?
I graduated from the Brian Utting School of Massage in 2004 where I received an academically rigorous, well-rounded education in anatomy and physiology, massage theory and technique, communication, and business practices.
I have gone on to study and specialize in craniosacral therapy. Cranial work is based in osteopathic medicine. This work relies on an inherent, universal healing force to help the body untie the knots that bind it up, lighten the darkness where suffering is stored, and heal itself. As people go through life they have physical, emotional, and spiritual experiences that can stick with them, make them sick, and cause them pain. I work with the movements of bone, muscle, membrane, and field as well as the health and flow of cerebrospinal fluid to optimize whole body function and assist in dispelling strain patterns. I also provide intraoral therapy to help with release in the neck and jaw.
I approach each session with a 3-dimensional understanding of the body and a strong background in injury treatment. I bring curiosity and an open mind to the table and tailor treatment to the individual. I enjoy helping people investigate the barriers that keep them from feeling whole and balanced.
I am excited about joining the Bellingham community and look forward to working with you.
Carmen Winquist LMT, RYT
I approach each session with a fresh and inspired perceptive. We will work together to explore an individualized approach that will draw on my deep understanding of the human body, therapeutic touch, and natural intuition; as well your own body's natural ability to heal itself.
After graduating from WWU with a degree in political science and Spanish, I knew that my calling lay in a different field. I studied herbal medicine with a local herbalist, traveled to India where I obtained my 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate and began to teach back home in Bellingham, while continuing to learn about nutrition and wellness. I completed my massage practitioner training at Whatcom Community College, where I received a rigorous, well-rounded education here in Bellingham.
My treatments combine different levels of tissue work using Swedish Massage, Myofascial release, Therapeutic Massage, yoga, breath work, self-care skills and more. During every session you will feel a deep level of relaxation that will open your being to many layers of healing. Our work together will promote a healthy body, mental clarity, and harmony with your whole being that can be integrated into daily life.
In my spare time I love to cook, read, travel, ski, bike, spend time outside with my beautiful friends & family, and connect with my community! In addition to working at Veritas, I currently teach yoga classes at Inspire Studio and am a volunteer at the Bellingham Food Bank. I take care of myself so that I am able to be clear and present for your healing. Every person deserves healing and the opportunity to feel alive- I look forward to sharing that journey with you!
Sabine Shannon LMT
My practice in massage therapy is deeply rooted in a reverence for the human body and its amazing regenerative powers. I believe that every person can heal themselves and it is only my duty as a therapist to facilitate that process.
Through a mindful and intuitive touch I work to resolve issues of pain and tension that are unique to you. I take great care in observing, listening and cooperating with each client to co-create a massage that is tailored to the individual.
I am a graduate of the Whatcom Community College Massage Practitioner Program. There I received a thorough education that balanced the scientific focus of clinical massage with the nurturing spirit of therapeutic massage. In my sessions I draw from a variety of modalities including Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger point Therapy and Deep Tissue Massage. I am also trained in Prenatal massage and am always delighted to work with Mothers-to-be.
I have a background in movement arts including ballet, modern dance and aerial acrobatics. This can inspire my sessions to have a movement aspect to them, incorporating assisted stretching and joint mobilizations.
As a therapist I work with an open heart and open palms. I hope to hold space for you to uncover your own healing abilities.
Thea Posch LMT
The work I do comes from the depth of my own soul-call; through the roots of my own healing, the pursuit of my passions and through years of experience and practice.
I am dedicated to being in service to the wholeness that resides in each of us, and devoted to the mystical journey of transformation. I believe healing is possible on every level- physically, emotionally and spiritually. My role as a therapist is to practice and adhere to the fundamental tenet that your body has the intelligence and capacity to heal itself and I am simply a facilitator to that end.
As a licensed massage therapist for over 22 years, a registered yoga instructor and former ballet dancer, I have built a deep experiential knowledge of the anatomy and physical patterns of the human body. As a CranioSacral therapist, I have come to respect and learn greatly from what the wisdom of the subtle body teaches. This has allowed me to work from a place of curiosity, accessing a deeper layer of activity that occurs within the nervous system and the energetic fields of the body. My work takes on many forms and varies according to each individual’s needs in the moment. I am guided by deep listening and work from my intuitive perception to gently hold a safe and nourishing space for healing to occur.
I offer my heart and hands, my skillfulness and my presence.
Markaya Henderson LMT
My approach to bodywork is based on the premise that humans are divinely intelligent organisms, persistently seeking balance and peace; even our compensatory, and sometimes painful, patterns show the innate wisdom of the body in maintaining health in the face of adverse conditions.
I approach each body with reverence, employing my own intuition and palpatory skills to craft the right session from moment to moment. Two crucial components of each session are safety and communication between client and practitioner. In order to foster a productive therapeutic relationship, I empower clients to share their experiences and provide feedback, encourage compassionate body awareness and develop trust through safe, non-judgmental engagement.
I received a dynamic education through the Massage Practitioner Program at Whatcom Community College. There I trained in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Techniques, Myofascial Release and much more, all founded in a deep appreciation and wonderment for human anatomy and physiology. I have since pursued a plethora of continuing education opportunities, equipping me with a diverse array of techniques to meet client's unique needs including Intraoral Therapy. I am committed to a dynamic and evolving practice for the more I learn about the body and its systems, the more passion and information I have to share with clients who face the weight of pain, dysfunction and trauma.
My latest educational journey has been with the art of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, a subtle yet profound approach to the body and its relationship to healing potentials, internal and external. This practice focuses on the inherent movements in the body or rather the embryological forces that organized us. They are still at work today helping to reorganize and heal us in the face of repetitive stress, injury, emotional trauma and whatever else inhibits grace in our lives. This reorganization offers clarity to weighty chronic ailments, releases trapped vitality and allows for emotional integration when the body and mind are freed from the conditions of past experiences. On a spiritual level, this modality allows us to connect with our authenticity by witnessing who we are beneath the patterns we have adopted. In this way, client and practitioner forge a container through which holistic healing may take place.
It brings me great joy to offer these gifts to my community. Whether you come to my table in pain or simply in curiosity, I look forward to our creative exchange.
"I just wanted to express what I'm sure you already know. You have put together such an incredible team. Besides yourself, I have seen Carmen several times, and Khya for the first time a short while ago. You all really are the best of the best around here. And I'm very grateful."
- Glenn H., Bellingham, WA
"I had my first GREAT massage yesterday from Carmen. For the first time in over 2 years, I woke up WITHOUT my usual frozen, stiff, painful lower back. I can't say enough great things about her techniques, and believe me - I was spoiled to have Traci give me weekly massages several years ago, and no one could hold a candle to her skills and presence. Traci Soriano, you sooooooo chose well with Carmen to add to your group of practitioners. I will be a weekly client from now on, after going several years without. After yesterday, I realize this is probably the best thing I can allow for myself - and desperately need. Thank you."
- Michelle D, Bellingham, WA
"Thanks Khya for another amazing massage, and the patient process of guiding my shoulder back into submission, you’re a fantastic practitioner... and on the car ride back, Jim kept saying (over and over…) that his massage (with Traci) was just the best ever. Looking over at me and saying 'No, really'!"
-Jeanne and Jim P., Lopez Island, WA
"I have been going for professional massage for over 20 years. Several years ago I went to Traci Soriano at Veritas Massage Studio, and now, no place else will do. Traci is "hands down" the best. She creates an environment of warm, positive energy, the scents and the music are perfect, and her style and method are spot on. I'm always amazed at how she knows what areas need work even before I do! I am so grateful for the consistently professional and excellent massage that I get at Veritas. Thank you, Traci!"
- Glenn H, Bellingham, WA
"I have been seeing Traci for massage for SEVERAL years now. I love her massages. I am an avid athlete and her deep tissue work on a regular basis always feels so good and helps me work even harder. She also did some specific work on my shoulder following rotator cuff surgery that aided my rehabilitation and physical therapy. Traci is the best massage therapist I have ever had the privilege of seeing!"
- Misty N, Bellingham, WA
"I was lucky enough to get a massage from Carmen this afternoon... I'm not entirely sure who this email is going to, but I was hoping you could pass along a big thank you to Carmen for me. That was the BEST massage I have EVER had. I have really bad back pain with my scoliosis, and have never been able to get any pain relief. I hate taking pills of any kind, so I have always just suffered through the pain. I stopped getting massages, because even though they feel great, they have never helped. That's all changed!
Carmen relieved my pain! She not only made me feel comfortable and relaxed (I dozed off for the 1st time :) ), but she gave me relief from my chronic pain. I have been pain free for 3 hours (and counting)! I have NEVER been pain free. I'm not sure how long it will last. But for a person who has had chronic back pain their whole life, 3 hours is more than I could have ever imagined, or asked for. Thank you thank you thank you Carmen! I will be seeing you soon!"
- Sara D, Bellingham, WA
"Khya at Veritas is excellent, and if you suffer from chronic joint pain, her healing hands will help to restore mobility and alleviate pain. The studio environment is very private and comfortable, and her demeanor is both professional and able to put you at ease. I would highly recommend!"
